I am a therapist and have a clinical social work license in the state of New York. Deciding to seek therapy can be a difficult choice. Unfortunately the stigma surrounding mental health is still common, which is very unfair because the truth is that we all have emotions and go through difficult times in life.
Therapy is for brave and determined people because therapy is work. It is not merely talking, it is a challenge and a commitment to reach personal goals and objectives. There are many common but painful situations in life such as: divorce, the death of a loved one, changes in the family, anxiety, addiction, and trauma. It is normal to need help sometimes. No one knows everything and everyone can learn how to better navigate difficult circumstances and the various hardships that are all too common yet painful in life.
